It has been a little busy here in financial aid land as we ready the final packages and get the last appeals out the door.

As of this moment, we have 4 cases in process and 75 students who still have incomplete financial aid applications...

We have 1 pending appeal...

It has been a busy busy month, and I know the financial aid staff and I have appreciated the chance to speak with many of you, both at CPW and over the phone and email in the last several weeks. While I know not every one of you got the answer from us you might have hoped for, I hope that each of you feels that we took your case seriously, that we listened, and that we did all we could to work with you.

In the coming days, we will turn our attention to our continuting students at MIT so that we may get their financial aid awards out the door by the middle of June. I will still be posting and commenting here, however, so keep checking back for updates.

For those of you who will be enrolling, please make sure to mail us your Self Help and/or Student Information Review Forms. They can still be mailed by regular mail now (no need to Fedex them).

For those of you whose path will take you elsewhere, I enjoyed getting to know you. For those of you who will be enrolled at MIT, I look forward to seeing you in the hallways soon! For those of you still on the waitlist, stay tuned...

Yay! Financial Aid!
I'm that girl (or one of them) that hugged you and thanked you for the financial aid .
And then you proceeded to be (even more) generous and give me some tokens!
Steven, I can vouch for Dan, he has some mad DDR skills :p.

I only just decided on MIT today and the post office is now closed. Is it ok if the two forms are postmarked tomorrow?

Anonymous. I am guessing you are an international student from Europe since yesterday was a holiday. I am sure it won't be a problem if you mail the forms today instead. I think MIT just wanted them as soon as possible and so for most people (aka everyone living in the US) the post office is open on May 1st so that date is not a problem.

I wish MIT could have sent the packages out one day earlier. I was under the impression we had to let the college know BY May 1st what our decision was. So since I didn't get my updated MIT Financial Aid package until May 1st after I got home from school, it was too late already...

Some clarification on financial aid thresholds:

Is there a dramatic difference in MIT aid to families with income just below versus just above the $75K threshold?

Same question for Pell Grant - is a family just above Pell Grant thresholds likley to recieve much less aid than one just below.

For various reasons, we are only now (today) getting our info to our accountant and have explained to her that you can't finalize our son's award until you get our 2007 return. Do we still need to submit it through the "clearinghouse" or can we just send it to your office?
