One last bit of advice by Snively '11

Before all hell breaks loose

Every year it happens and every year there is sadness. Please don’t turn that sadness against the admissions office, the bloggers, or the admitted students. Things don’t always work out the way we want, but I promise that attacking people is not going to help. Funnel your energy into shooting stuff out of air cannons, doing a ridiculous physics problem, or building something awesome. Don’t spend it flaming people on the Internet, because everybody hates that guy.

Also, I say this twice a year, and it’s time to say it again. While admissions will have you believe that decisions come out at 1:59 PM, they more than likely will be released ~12-13 minutes prior to that, so be on the lookout.

Good luck, pre-congrats to everybody who gets accepted, and happy Pi day!

  35. Shubham says:

Ironically, the first time I’m commenting on the Admissions blog is after I have been rejected. Won’t be inhumanly brave and say I’m not disappointed (actually, disappointed is a very mild term :D) but I’ve figured out how to move on. I’m recording my favorite songs in my semi-broken voice! They sound hilarious…anyone up for a few laughs?

And…I had fun. Real fun. I wanna thank you guys at MIT. It’s been great. Funnest Pi Day ever.

    @Varun
Lmfao, I’m screwed. Couldn’t study because of pre-decisions anxiety. Not much time left now. Don’t feel like wasting that time studying! Lol. (Oops, sorry, i got bio on monday too…which..is…err…tomorrow? *runs away*) :D

  36. Droan says:

    Hi Snively,

I was rejected. and i would just like to say that i will miss reading your blog posts. i must say you are the best blogger on mitadmissions.org, and m sure u wud do great in life. this is my last post on the mit website.

I hope MIT thinks of me to be worthy enough when i apply in 6 years hoping for a Sloan MBA.

Thanks Matt, and all the admission officers who worked so hard to make the right decisions. you all rock.

goodbye for now~~ MIT: see you in 6 yrs.

  37. Snively– I was expecting you to post something like,
“Just because you’re rejected, doesn’t mean you can’t be great!

    You’re slipping…

  38. D says:

  41. comboy says:

    my new recipe
have you ever fold two eggs and mix with burger and orange juice? do you think you’re the first one to taste – well i did it and ate it a few minutes ago. i also added sweet corn seeds and my drink was mushroom juice. i drank from a can which i opened a few days ago and now there’s not much mushroom in it. drink cold and drop enough orange-juice depending on its dense

    To Snively:

I just wanted to tell you (since now I’m fairly certain that I’ll never, ever get to meet you) that your blog was one of the reasons I decided to apply to MIT early in the first place. I was unsure about it, until I read about how much fun MIT could be through your posts. Eventually, I learned more about it and it became my dream school.

    Until I got rejected yesterday.

Oh well. I got a paper acceptance letter from one of my other top choices on the same day, just minutes before. I think it was fate. It made me realize that MIT definitely isn’t the only great school out there.

But thank you, because without you I probably never would have applied in the first place. Keep it up! =)

and if you find the ticket to mit in a fortune egg will you send the verification number to admission office and fill bazillion of forms again. sometimes i truly can not understand why all these form-fillers are asking for financial aid while they’re paying more for form fees than they can really be not a fat cat. me personally had enough coffee to look through universities and mail them, i never filled any form. it’s a little good piece of copy-paste from my inbox that i have an email from queen university with “Happy Norouz to you” in it. if you go to canada these days say my greetings for nouroz 2009 to Justin Kerr. google has doodles for new year on march 20. please accept my apologize dear mit for i’m not going to fill form for you. how can i commit such a cruel treason to my paradise. mit is queen of hearts and i like music of hearts with meryl streep because of Violin and V.

my dutch friend always tell me people of Holland are famous for eating chips with mayonnaise, but i love walter lewin more than dutch mayonnaise
