I discovered the romance of rail travel during an overnight trip when I was 9, and things just haven't been the same since. I've seen several continents aboard passenger trains, and had the awesome opportunity to write software for Amtrak for almost a decade. After high school, I took a couple of years off, heard about the Institute from a co-worker, applied early, got in, and before I knew it I was on a plane to Boston with a bunch of my stuff.
I lived in the East Campus dorm for two years, then ended up moving off campus to share a house with some friends, and finally moved back on campus to the Ashdown graduate dorm while I did my master's. All things considered, it was the greatest challenge of my life, but a thoroughly rewarding one: I learned and saw things I never thought possible. It seems like every step of the way was clearly marked as long as I continued to follow my heart and believe. I invite you to do the same here at MIT. :-)
