Visit MIT: Group tours

Groups consisting of 10–50 students are welcome to submit a request for a private group tour. Tours typically last 75–90 minutes and are led by current MIT students. We are unable to accommodate groups larger than 50 students.

Group visits are at 9:30AM or 2:00PM Monday through Friday during the academic year, and are only available upon request. We require a minimum of 3 weeks notice to schedule group tours. Please allow 3–5 business days for a response regarding the status of your request.

If you are placing a request for the spring semester, please use any text box on the form to indicate the preferred date of your visit. Spring semester tours will begin at the end of February. We are unable to accommodate groups during the month of January.

Private group fees

Group size Fee
10–25 $150
26–50 $175

There is no charge for nonprofits or U.S. school groups when reserved by a teacher or counselor.

If we are able to accommodate your request, we will send you an invoice with a link to a secure website to make your payment. We are only able to accept credit card payments through this website. Final confirmation of your tour will be sent after the payment has been received.

Cancellations and refunds

Cancellations must be received no later than two business days before your scheduled tour date for a full refund. No refunds will be issued for cancellations received within two business days of the scheduled tour date, or for groups who arrive late and are not able to attend their scheduled tour.

Full refunds will be offered in the case of an Institute-wide closure or a sick or otherwise unavailable tour guide.

Day of the visit

Visitors should leave plenty of travel time to get to campus, taking Boston traffic into consideration. Groups that arrive more than 15 minutes late cannot be accommodated for a tour.

Visitors must conduct themselves respectfully while on the MIT campus. Disruptive behavior will result in termination of your tour and loss of future tour privileges.

Picture taking is not permitted in labs, offices, fitness facilities, or childcare areas.
