MIT Public Service Fellows use their skills, energy, and creativity to tackle some of the major challenges faced by under-served communities around the world. In the process, these students also build their own knowledge and expertise, and gain a deep understanding of complex community problems and the challenges involved in solving them. Each year, about 50 Fellows collaborate with local community partners in locations as diverse as Cambridge, New Orleans, Mali, India, and Ecuador.
The Fellowships are run by the MIT Public Service Center (or PSC). The PSC is part of the International Development Initiative which is the second-largest supporter of student international experiences on campus, making it an integral part of MIT's focus on becoming a truly global university.
