To get ready to tackle the MIT curriculum, we recommend taking advanced science and math classes in high school, including calculus. Building a strong academic foundation before you come to MIT contributes to your own development, shows us that you’re ready to do the work, and helps you make the most of the Institute when you’re here.

We understand not every high school offers calculus—and that’s okay! In our admissions process, we consider what's available to you and how you've taken advantage of (or go beyond) those opportunities. If you don’t have access to calculus through your school or other paths (like dual enrollment or online classes), MIT also accepts free calculus certifications through Schoolhouse.world.
