Biography

Hey! I’m Angie, a freshman living in Maseeh. I’m originally from Puerto Rico, but I skipped town early to be a part of the summer component of MIT’s Interphase EDGE/x program and have therefore probably spent more time begging my friends to go down Mass Ave. to Beantown Taqueria with me than I have on la isla del encanto in these past few months.

I decided to give my all in a CS class out of pure spite in eleventh grade and have been in love with it ever since. However, during my summer with Interphase, I discovered that I really, really like making stuff with my hands, maybe even more than I like banging my head against my desk as I wonder why my code won’t compile. So, that has placed me somewhere between courses 2, 6, and 2A6 in terms of my potential major, and I’m looking forward to exploring that decision with you all on this blog. Before I liked any of that, though, I liked reading, writing, and languages. In addition to English and Spanish, I’m fluent (albeit slightly rusty) in Italian. Moreover, writing for the admissions blog was the very first item I wrote down on my ever-growing MIT bucket list, and it makes me very happy to finally be able to check it off.

In and around MIT, you can probably find me psetting in Hayden, barely surviving the Stairmaster at the Z, taking the T to the Boston Public Library, working at the Motorsports shop, hanging out at Skullhouse or EC events, and exploring as many new places on campus as I can, usually sporting jorts and my favorite light blue headphones. I like new music, late nights, early mornings, Next House dining, and this quote by Anne Rice:

“Don't bend; don't water it down; don't try to make it logical; don't edit your own soul according to the fashion. Rather, follow your most intense obsessions mercilessly.”

Simply put, that’s what I came to MIT to do, and I can’t wait to share this journey with you all :)
