fall is the best season by Hala K. '29

and some pictures to prove it

Fall is the best season and that’s not opinions based. You get to pull out all of your staple pieces – a loose leather jacket, your favorite cardigan, maybe some cute rain boots. The weather is perfect so you don’t need to think about how a bulky jacket and thick gloves will mess up your outfit or how the humidity will frizz up your hair. All of your favorite restaurants are adding back the seasonal items you’ve waited a whole year for: Flour’s coconut caramel hot chocolate (please try this if you haven’t already, I actually think about it every single day), Trader Joe’s butternut squash mac and cheese, and of course, the dining hall’s pumpkin flavored ice cream.

Though most importantly, THE TREES! Every time you step outside, orange and red foliage canopies over you and the places you walk by every single day seem to be significantly more aesthetic. I have taken at least one picture every single time I have left my room for the past 2 weeks. So, here’s some clear evidence as to how much prettier the fall is compared to any other season.

Note: I’ve taken most of these pictures when I’m already late for something so recognize that in real life, it is 10x more pretty.

A bikelane with yellow leaves on the ground and cars to the right. Yellow and Green trees overhead.

the view immediately outside of New Vassar. look at how pretty the leaves on the ground are!!

MIT's Great Dome with trees on each side and grass leading to it.

THE GREAT DOME! I mean easily one of the prettiest sights on campus and now the trees even have a bit of red to them

Yellow and Green trees cover the top half of the photo. Bottom half shows seating in a courtyard.

hayden library courtyard! the whole time I studied here, leaves were falling from the trees and it was so so pretty

Picture taken from middle of street crossing. Yellow and Green trees overhead.

another picture outside of new vassar – i love the yellow and green trees with the bright blue sky behind it

Building on left with green trees on right. Walking down outdoor "tiled" path.

this is the east side of campus with the MIT List Visual Arts Center to the left – I just loved how the sun kept peeking in from behind the trees

Picture of glass building with some bikes on ground. A single yellow tree on right side.

i’ve never even PROCESSED that building 34 is this cute. i love the all glass look of the building next to the big yellow tree

Picture of laptop with physics on it. In background is glass windows showing the Charles River and trees.

another hayden studying one (ignore my greys anatomy + 2.001 combo). The trees make the charles sparkle even more than normal i swear

Books on ledge and in background, some shops and trees losing their leaves.

a book sale in harvard square this weekend! flowers are to spring as books are to fall (as fall is to being the best season)

A sunrise photo showing the Henry G. Steinbrenner '27 Stadium and downtown Boston buildings.

sunrise from my dorm window! the field is so busy during the fall so it’s always fun to look out and watch whatever is going on. it’s also cool that I casually have a pretty view of the boston skyline

Old-looking buildings on left of road and trees of all different sizes and colors surrounding road.

the picture speaks for itself.

Paved sidewalk with white gate to the left. Trees having lost a lot of trees overhead.

on my walk to a cafe today – this is a scene straight out of gilmore girls. LOOK AT THE LANTERN! also, the trees are already starting to lose their leaves which makes me sad

Laptop on bottom with a picture of red and yellow trees and homes through a window.

and finally, as I write this, this is the view from my cafe’s window

Fall is the best season – I rest my case.
