Nnnyeeeeeeiiiiiigghhhghhhghhhhhh!!!!! 🐎

I’m taking a glass sculpting class this semester! And not to brag or anything, but I am incredibly skilled at making glass ponies.

Sculpting a glass horse

The master at work.

For those of you who don’t know, this is what a pony looks like:

A disfigured black horse

Isn’t she majestic?

Ponies are difficult to sculpt because they have distinctive features that don’t translate well into hot glass – long faces, spindly limbs, and fluffy manes/tails. But because I am so cool and talented, I can easily reproduce these features with photorealistic precision.

Misshapen glass horse 1

This pony’s name is Megan. Born into nobility, she spends her days prancing around regally, refusing to jump over anything less than a gilded fence.

The instructor says she has never seen glass ponies like this before, which I can only assume means that these are the best and most beautiful ponies ever to grace the MIT Glass Lab.

This pony's name is Velvet Eclipse. A mysterious white stallion with a tragic backstory, he is often seen staring wistfully into the distance and writing poetry about his tortured soul.

I think I am just about ready to drop out and start selling glass ponies in the streets of Venice.

Misshapen glass horse 3
This pony's name is Kyle. He drinks a can of Monster with Reese's Puffs every morning for breakfast (can and all). Headstrong and optimistic, nothing can get in Kyle's way – not even his mild peanut allergy!
Misshapen horse 4

This pony's name is Brenda. She is Megan's self-proclaimed arch nemesis, although Megan is not yet aware of Brenda's existence.

These ponies are named Bart, Bert, Birt, Bort, and Burt. They’re like the four horsemen of the apocalypse, except there are five of them.
