our perpetual battle with the mit weather machine by Anika H. '26

It’s raining today, so we’re punting Novemburn fireshow to our rain date tomorrow. But it also rained last time during REX, and the last time before that during Hadestown fireside story, and the time before that during CPW fireshow. In fact, the last time we did not have a rain threat was a full year ago.
Our performers mopped up the stage with paper towels, and our lovely performers fully committed to their choreographed groundwork, rolling and cartwheeling through puddles and the piss of Zeus himself with only the fire of their props to keep them warm. When the rain started pouring too had to even see, we ushered the audience into Stata to wait it out for 20 minutes. We set up camping tents to keep our props and equipment dry. People were swapping costumes soaked in sweat and tears and mostly rainwater. As wonderful as the shows went, and as much as it was worth it, shifting schedules for one show and coming back to our dorms drenched and shivering for another was still unpleasant.
We had the frosh do a delay-the-rain dance yesterday after dress rehearsals, yelling and wiggling our arms at the clouds. Because since nothing else has worked at this point, we might as well try.
I don’t know where the lair of the weather wizard lies. He, the arch-nemesis of our fire dragons, is the only one standing in the way of a dry and happy audience and the perfect show. I do not know what grudge he harbors and what staff he wields. I would like to think it is a short and shriveling twig casting a pathetic twinkling of dew in attempt to douse our flames. But alas, he can only delay our display of fiery awesomeness on the best outdoor stage in the greater Boston-Cambridge area.

shitty rain wizard
So this is an advertisement. Please if you are a weatherman or a meteorologist or a witch or a rain and wind shaman, please please PLEASE help us schedule the show for a day that doesn’t rain and take down the evil wizard operating the MIT weather machine.
Also, Novemburn is still on Sunday(tomorrow) 8-10pm in Stata Amphitheatre. Depending on wind conditions, we may or may not have our fire breathing showcase, but we have many cool performances and possibly the best group sets I have seen during my time here. Come hither!
