Saturday Night in Simmons by Kayode D. '27

it's so busy here tonight [i really need to study or go to sleep]

Y’all.

Simmons is bustling tonight. I realized while going to get new shoes for Gatas [explained below] that this would make a great blog post! So I went to snatch my friend, Caleb M. ’27 ‘s camera, and here are the pics I took over like and hour or something, running around Simmons and seeing who’s who in this crazy zoo.

Tonight my friend group did secret santa. It was very much fun indeed!

I ran into Summer and Maria putting up a new chalk mural in the main stairway in the lobby. So much talent! These guys are responsible for so many amazing chalk murals in Simmons. Check out this crazy cool art blog from Andi Q ’25 for more!

 

MPR use tonight [VGO and Nicki]

I went to see what was going on in the ol' Multipurpose Room [MPR] and saw a massive VGO watch party! I ran to get my camera and when I came back, THEY WERE ALL GONE!!

GATAS [aka the most fun game in Simmons]

After the Secret Santa, we played a game called Gatas, which i think means “Cats” in Spanish, but do NOT quote me on that.

Gatas is a really run game that we play on our now partially destroyed pool table above the Simmons lobby. I would explain the rules but I’m really tired. Maybe tommorrow I’ll update? You only need two balls and enough space to run around. And some good shoes you can hard brake in. I wore the wrong shoes.

4AB Lounge Happenings:

Bella A '26 "pretending" to grind out a lecture. jk, she was "locked in" as the kids say now a days. i am kids...but i am never locked in.

I love Catan. My family used to play every single night for a long time during covid, and we ended up getting some expansions since we were burning out of the game so fast.

I had a friend the other day–who, mind you, I have done a pset all nighter most weeks this semester with [EVERY WEEK we say we won’t ever wait this late again to do 18.03, and then EVERY WEEK on Thursday we are like “guys… we did it again” and stay up all night again.] said that she has NEVER ONCE seen me locked in. And I wanted to argue with her, but I’m literally writing this blog instead of sleeping or studying. I do actually need to lock in for my two finals next week. Eeps!

The catch-all carousel of photos idk where to put:

I love these shoes i got at Goodwill back home [the one here in cambridge is always kinda picked over i fear. I did get a drum machine there once but I need six type D batteries...where can i get those?], but i'm destroying them by wearing them so much. The leather is starting to tear I fear and idk how long they will last if i play Gatas hard in them.
I made a Simmons house proposal to buy a Marvel vs. Capcom 2 Arcade Machine and it PASSED, but I have yet to actually order it. Someone needs to bully me until I do it.
Elijah R. '27 in the weird cold glass room that was roped off last semester, but open now for some reason? Adrian Y '27 would hang out in there between turns, then run in at the last second and throw the ball once to K.O. another player. Insane plays tonight. Good times!
