Admissions at MIT Welcome Center

If you plan to visit, we are located at the MIT Welcome Center near the Kendall Square T station. You can learn more in the Visit MIT section of our site.

If you must mail application-related documents to us for some reason, please read this page for instructions.

Visitor Policies

MIT Admissions offers two types of campus visits:

  • Info session and student-led tour: Our info sessions are hosted by admissions officers who share details about academics, campus life, the application process, and financial aid. A student-led campus tour immediately follows the info session.
  • Student-led tour only: One of our amazing students will take you on a tour of their favorite places on campus.

Info sessions last half an hour, and student-led tours are one hour.

Reservations are required for all info sessions and tours. We’re not able to accommodate walk-in questions from prospective students or families.

If you have a burning question and can’t find the answer on our website, you can email us at [email protected] or call 1.617.253.3400 between 9 AM and 4 PM ET, Monday through Friday.

Getting to the Welcome Center

If you are registered for an info session or tour, here’s our address:

292 Main Street, Cambridge, MA 02142

The MBTA’s Red Line is your best option to get to the Welcome Center! Depending on where you are coming from, you could also walk, bike, take the bus, or maybe a taxi/rideshare.

We strongly encourage visitors not to drive to campus. Cambridge traffic is usually awful, the layout of the roads is confusing, and, although there is public parking at the Hayward Parking Garage, and other public lots in Kendall Square, it is pretty expensive and unpredictably limited.

If you are driving to the area, we strongly, strongly encourage you to park further out on the Red Line—Alewife, South Station, etc.—and take the train from there. In addition to being faster, cheaper, and better for the environment, you can conveniently visit many other colleges along the way! If you must drive to campus itself, then your best bet is to set your address for the Hayward Parking Garage, accessible at 33 Amherst Street, and keep your fingers crossed. 🤞

Please note: MIT Admissions cannot reimburse parking costs.
