April 2021: Although our campus is closed to visitors, you don’t have to travel to 🌈 Cambridge to get a feel for MIT. Sign up today for an 🔮 online session or student-led tour.

What is Battlecode?

The 6.147 (formerly 6.370) Battlecode programming competition is a unique challenge that combines battle strategy, software engineering, and artificial intelligence. Student teams aim to write the best player program for the Battlecode real-time strategy game.

This is a one-month hardcore coding skills contest for both beginner and advanced coders. It’s a programming project that will help you develop your skills, amaze your future employers (our many corporate sponsors), earn six units of MIT credit, consume free food, and maybe earn a share of a $50,000 prize pool.
