Housing is a huge part of undergraduate life at MIT. You choose where you live, and each living group is a community with its own distinct culture and traditions. MIT housing is guaranteed for your entire undergraduate experience, and all first-year students live in on-campus residence halls. You can read more about housing on our page Housing at MIT.
Just as important as where you live is what and how you eat. At MIT, you may choose to join a conventional meal plan with access to dining halls, or you might prefer to live in a cook-for-yourself (and often, your friends) community. (Or maybe you want a combination of both!) Just like our approach to housing, we give our students options about where, how, and what to eat.
