What is MIT Code?

MIT uses numbers for everything. You could be in 10-250 taking 18.06, which is 4-0-8, for 6-5. At MIT, all of your friends would understand exactly what you’re saying.

Translation:

You could be in Room 10-250, taking Linear Algebra, which is the unit distribution: 4 hours in class per week, 0 hours in lab per week, 8 hours of homework per week, for Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. Simple!
