Going to a makerspace for the first time can be intimidating, but all first-year undergrads can learn introductory skills through MakerLodge, an extracurricular peer-to-peer training program that's run by Project Manus. Students get trained on several machines, make a couple of small objects to take home, and can come back during Open Hours to work on personal, class, or research projects!
In spring 2022, Kanoe Evile ’23 was in a linguistics class—24.902 (Introduction to Syntax)—and asked her professor, David Pesetsky, about a phrase that was unheard of to him: "whom of which." That question turned into an independent study project and now a published paper investigating the linguistic rules of this emerging English phrase.
