*THE* double, doubled + b1ner cribs!!! by Veronica P. '27

While some of you may be familiar with my roommate and I’s sophomore year room tour, you may not realize that it was not the first time my room has been featured on the blogs. My freshman year, Amber V. ’24 brought back the infamous b1ner cribs, and Layla and I (although in a triple at the time) got a feature! So, it’s only fitting that for our third year of roommate-ship, I combine the two blogs into one mega room-tour blog. 01 i don't even want to begin to think about what i'm going to do for the fourth year...

Every time we give people a new tour of the double, they joke that it’s as if a chasm opened up in the middle of our old double, leaving us with another double’s worth of space to fill. 02 or, as i like to call it, a double double Through the magic of being floor chairs⁠03 Our dorm building, Burton Conner, has a student government with representatives from each floor. Our floor is Burton 1, hence 'b1ner' cribs , we managed to secure the largest double in Burton-Conner, with the beautiful view of the Charles that Boston real-estate could never buy. The new room is pretty much the same, but now we have a couch (passed down by the previous residents of this room, affectionately known as ‘Tangela’) and a TV (purchased from facebook marketplace!). Oh, and I guess Layla has found more ways to use clothing as decor— the bag wall has expanded into a coat wall, a hat wall, and a belt wall, naturally!

 

So without further ado, come on in!

Here’s our view of the river, with the windows separate by two years’ iterations of SpringFest⁠04 SpringFest is run by our Student Events board, and consists of a carnival as well as a special guest performer! A few years ago they had Doechii! caricatures.

 

Here’s the common area: featuring our TV, couch, and newly-added coat wall! Alena T. ’29, primary stealer of vitamin water, has specifically requested we showcase our vitamin water collection.

 

And our “dresser,” which is just two drawer units stacked atop one another!

Now, here’s an update on Layla’s side! Starting with the main event: bag wall.

Her sewing setup is still intact, and she now has a stirling engine that she’s referencing during her Pappalardo Apprenticeship! 05 Pappalardo Apprentices are essentially TA's for 2.007, helping students build robot in the Pappalardo lab while working on their own manufacturing project. First year apprentices manufacture their own Stirling Engine.
