Welcome to our new bloggers! by Chris Peterson SM '13

After much deliberating over the ~100 blogger applications we received this summer, we are happy to introduce you to our new baby bloggers.

We hired 8 baby bloggers —  four first years, and four older-than-first-years —  because that is the number of ‘2027s we expect to see graduating (between senior year and MEngs), and we aim to have rough conservation and continuity of posters.

Their cartoon faces (drawn by our peerless kitty with a pencil Sam Xu on the comms team) are below.

In order of top row to bottom, left to right:

• Lauren W. ’29, a member of the varsity soccer team (and protege of former jockblogger Emiko P. ’25), may be blogging about the beaches of SoCal, the Ring Premiere, and her ongoing attempts to choose a major, among other things, all while sipping a matcha
• Nick R. ’29 believes that one of the lessons of MIT is you don’t pull the ladder up after you, and so whether he’s writing about his fraternity, club hockey, juggling, art, classes, or more, he wants to share his highlights and frustrations, ambitions and regrets, and the parts of himself that he’s learning to reconcile
• Emily P. ’28 identifies as an altoids tin of thoughts, hoping to further process experiences into insights through conversations with friends and writing (and art-ing) for an audience, and drawing together a heterogenous community that collectively represents MIT
• Leya E. ’30 describes herself as having an unhealthy obsession with hit Sanrio character Cinnamoroll, physics, and indie rock music; we will let readers be the judge of degree, as she blogs her way through the twisty, turny thicket of life decisions
• Leanne F. ’30, a recovering artist, would like you to know that if you think you met her on campus, no you didn’t. She has survived haunted monkey bamboo forests and pooping planarians and lived to tell the tale, whether around a homemade sashimi platter in Simmons or here on the internet
• Alejandro B. ’30 has only been here a few weeks but already made ample use of Bluebikes for H-Mart runs, enjoyed the view and the people of MacGregor’s B-Entry on the 12th floor, and looks forward to exploring many clubs and classes and telling you about them
• Suzuko O. ’30 is interested in asking you invasive questions and potentially answering them himself. We have both eaten horse meat in Kazakhstan (at different times). We keep hiring Tetazoo bloggers without knowing it for some reason and I need to consult the oracles to figure out why.
• Joy X. ’29 has already worn Ellie’s face like a mask on the blogs here, here, and here. She often juggles and rides a unicycle to class, and while she used to think she might drop out to join the circus, at the Institute of Hacks, Pranks, and Tomfoolery, she realized she is already there…
