Who is the President of MIT?

You have to love a university president who gives you a big, hearty grin and hello when you pass him in the halls. Dr. L. Rafael Reif, a member of the MIT faculty since 1980, was selected as the 17th President of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in July 2012.

Dr. Reif is leading MIT’s pioneering efforts to help shape the future of higher education. A champion for both fundamental science and MIT’s signature style of interdisciplinary, problem-centered research, he is also pursuing an aggressive agenda to encourage innovation and entrepreneurship.

President Reif is a First Generation college student along with many other impressive faculty, alumni, and staff at MIT.
