Minesweeper Monday: Episode 3 by Ceri R. '16
the wait is OVER
On Monday, December 30, 2024, our friend and yours Kayode D. ’27 posted the first episode of Minesweeper Monday, which some have called “the most important piece of media in the 21st century,” and which others have called, “what are you talking about?”
Just 8 days later, on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, our eyeballs and ear holes were treated to the long-awaited sequel, Minesweeper Monday: Episode 2.
So, as you might imagine, on Monday, January 13, 2025, the entire readership of the MIT Admissions Blogs eagerly refreshed the page over and over again, anticipating Episode 3 to drop.
“Hm,” I thought, “Maybe Minesweeper Monday is now Tinesweeper Tuesday. You can’t rush greatness, and the weekly series must go on.”
But then Tuesday, January 14, passed. And Wednesday, January 15.
The next blogger meeting, we asked Kayode about his plans to continue the series or at least round out the fated trilogy. Like all of the best Game Masters are, he remained mysterious about his intentions, leaving us eagerly awaiting his magnum opus.
Months passed, but the blogger community never forgets. And neither did Kayode. I even got a Slack message from him on Monday, February 2, 2026 that piqued my interest. I’ll let you read it below:
![A Slack message from Kayode D to Ceri R that says "Hi ceri, I am flat broke so I logged hours for a blog I pls [sic] to post tonight (the elucid…minesweeper Monday episode three…)" Ceri replied "omg ...... the monday that has been foretold"](https://mitadmissions.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Minesweeper-Monday-Slack.png)
And yet…Monday night came and went. So did Tuesday. The glimmer of hope for the lost episode was once again consumed by the fog of IHTFP.
So on this, Wednesday, April 1, exactly 64 weeks and 1 day after Episode 2, the rest of the bloggers decided to Sweep the Mines with our own hands and produce what I—with my blog management powers—declare to be the canonical Minesweeper Monday: Episode 3.
Happy April Fool’s day, Kayode, we love all your goofs and gaffes so much that we had to participate in them too. And an extra big thank you to all the bloggers I convinced to be content creators with me: Aiden H. ’28, Boheng C. ’28, Caleb M. ’27, Ellie F. ’28, Janet G. ’27, Jenny B. ’25, MEng ’26, Kanokwan T. ’26, and Veronica P. ’27.
