Special Edition! by Snively '11
Speaking of Valentine's Cards . . .
Hey, so as Shannon just mentioned, all of the EA admits got V-day cards signed by all the bloggers. This means that we sat down, faced an ominous pile of ~500 cards, and started signing.
Signing your name that many times can get a little repetitive and even confusing (after about 350 you start to forget how you normally write your name). That’s why I, and perhaps some of the other bloggers, took some time to make some “Special Edition” cards, adding a little something extra to a few of the cards.
I made sure to write down what I added to the cards I customized, and here’s what I did:
38 of the cards have a number underneath my name. These 38 numbers correspond to random XKCD comics (like, I pushed the “random” button a bunch on the XKCD website and wrote the number down). These comics don’t have any special meaning to me, but head on over and check out which comic you have if you got a number.
2 of the cards have a little beaver drawn on them. This is my personal beaver graphic that I draw anytime I need to draw a beaver.
1 of the cards has my name underlined twice (just because I could).
1 of the cards says “With my freeze ray I will stop . . . the world,” a reference to Dr. Horrible (look him up on hulu.com)
1 of the cards says “It’s a brand new day!” another reference to Dr. Horrible
1 of the cards says “It didn’t make sense no to live for fun,” referencing “All Star” by Smash Mouth, the song I was listening to when I signed that card.
1 of the cards says “IHTFP” in binary.
Those are the special edition cards, let me know in the comments if you got one of them!

IHTFP in binary… using what, ASCII?
Judging from Shannon’s success at getting photos, I doubt you’ll find the recipients of those cards. Good luck though.
At my school admissions asked seniors to sign Christmas cards to alums, with our name and year and where we’re from. After the first few dozen I got bored so I started drawing skiing stick figures, and then lying about where I was from.
Hey Snively! I have one of your special edition number cards. Number 150. As soon as I read this entry I ran to get my card and I got really excited when I opened it! http://xkcd.com/150/
and I stand corrected
Apparently I have a special edition card, “138”. Which led me to this link http://xkcd.com/138/, which in turn contained a pretty classic comp sci joke.
lol
Aww. No Snively special code but I did get a smiley face.
Dr. Horrible!!
Dude. You’re not THAT important.
Decode this!

So do Regular Applicants who are accepted also get the tube? Just without some stuffs like the poster and the cards obviously?
*OMG*
I suddenly realized how lucky I am to get a beaver!!!!!
i got a xkcd one!
http://xkcd.com/473/
it’s awesome
I got one with 452!
BTW, ’14 because I’m probably deferring a year.
Regular Action students will receive a complementary ham rather than a tube complements of the Hamsworth Dynasty.
I bid you Good Day Colleagues.
@Roshal
Unfortunately no, RA students just get a large envelope filled with goodies. The Tubes are just for EA.
lol
lol indeed
I got the one with the “With my freeze ray I will stop . . . the world,”!
Haha, I feel special. When I first saw it, I thought that maybe you had done that for all the cards.
What did the other bloggers do for their “special edition” cards?
Snively, where have all your pictures gone? I’m sad. :(
