Does MIT require standardized tests for transfer applicants?

Standardized tests are required for every transfer applicant, regardless of how many years of college you have completed.

Students should report all sittings of the SAT, ACT, TOEFL, and SAT Subject Tests on the transfer application. Official score reports for these exams are not required unless a student is admitted, and chooses to enroll.

If you take the same test multiple times, we’ll consider the highest score achieved in each section. This superscoring also applies to students who submit scores from both the “old” and “new” SAT. We do this in order to consider all applicants in their best light.

Please note that our office will verify scores for all enrolling students. Any discrepancies between official and self-reported scores may affect a student’s offer of admission.
